Job Summary

ECS Limited is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our team. As a Geotechnical Engineer in our Special Projects Group, you will play a pivotal role in planning and overseeing subsurface explorations and performing analyses for transportation, facilities, water resources, and other types of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Development: Participate in the development of geotechnical project proposals and subsurface exploration programs.
  • Field Activities: Supervise related field activities and crews (drilling/test pit/inspection) to gather essential data for project assessments.
  • Geotechnical Analysis: Provide slope stability analysis, shallow and deep foundation design including axial and lateral capacity, retaining structure design, settlement, etc.
  • Construction Plans: Review post-bid construction plans to ensure adherence to project specifications and requirements.
  • Foundations Recommendations: Provide foundations recommendations for various structures as needed, based on thorough analysis and assessment.
  • Innovative Design: Introduce innovative design concepts in Geotechnical Engineering to optimize project efficiency and performance.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and support Staff Project Managers and technicians in their development.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with project teams to ensure timely and high-quality project deliverables.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrate initiative and leadership in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Continuous Learning: Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance skills and expertise.
  • Project Management: Adhere to project schedules and budgets, ensuring efficient project management practices.
  • Client Communication: Maintain open communication channels with clients, addressing their needs and concerns effectively.
Requirements
  • Professional Engineer License: Professional Engineer License (P.E.) is required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; a Master's or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience: 4+ years of geotechnical experience with an emphasis in design and development of geotechnical deliverables including investigation and design reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in DOT Geotechnical Design Manual (GDM) and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
  • Engineering Software: Experience with engineering software including gINT, LPile, APile, MSEW, FB-Pier, and GRLWEAP and slope stability.
  • MicroStation: Proficiency in MicroStation.
  • Communication Skills: Strong analytical and report writing skills. Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Driver's License: If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required.
