Position Summary

WSP is currently seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager (Assistant Vice President) to be based in our office. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in projects managed by our Civil Engineering Team within the Earth & Environment Group. The primary responsibility will be to oversee and coordinate project management for site development and construction initiatives across various sectors.

The ideal candidate will identify opportunities with local clientele and provide leadership on civil engineering projects, ensuring that all contributors are aware of their responsibilities and deadlines. This includes preparing and managing project budgets, monitoring external factors, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors and team members. Regular travel to various sites is expected.

Your Contributions
  • Lead business development efforts and proposal presentations for local agencies and existing clients.
  • Foster new client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and building strong market connections.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and profitability, overseeing the preparation of engineering and environmental plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Prepare, manage, and review project deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines and remote offices, including environmental and geotechnical teams.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, ensuring opportunities for professional growth.
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking and apply engineering judgment to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Mentor early-career and mid-career professionals.
  • Stay updated on the latest civil engineering techniques and practices.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Civil Engineering and/or construction management.
  • Proficient in scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication and collaboration.
  • Proven ability to provide innovative solutions and high-quality technical oversight.
  • Demonstrated leadership and accountability.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and business needs.
  • Experience in business development.
  • Successful track record in leading infrastructure projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Additional construction certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, OSHA 40).
  • Active participation in local professional organizations.
  • Established relationships with local government entities.
  • Proven success in securing business with municipal clients.
  • Knowledge of various permitting applications.
