⢠Anticipate budgetary needs and plan accordingly, which may involve recommending staffing adjustments and reallocating expenditures across various accounts.
⢠Oversee specialized projects or programs such as internal service organizations, training grant initiatives, departmental programs, research centers, and other innovative projects that further the University’s mission.
⢠Process sponsor requests and prepare reporting documents that are routed through central units.
⢠Examine purchasing and payroll transactions for compliance with policies and budgetary implications.
⢠Initiate, process, and/or approve financial transactions to ensure efficient and timely account management.
⢠Reconcile accounts to confirm accuracy and adherence to sponsor and university policies.
⢠Regularly meet with PIs and management to assess the financial status of PIs, providing guidance and problem-solving solutions for financial deficiencies.
⢠Develop budgets for grant submissions, ensuring compliance with university and sponsor guidelines.
⢠Collaborate with SPA and SFR on sponsor activities to fulfill contractual obligations, including award setups, budget revisions, and closeouts.
⢠Serve as a knowledgeable resource on university and sponsored policies and procedures, offering guidance to faculty and staff as needed.
⢠Monitor salary distributions and manage distribution updates and retroactive corrections when necessary.

(10%) Transaction Approvals:

⢠As a Certified Approver at the University of Minnesota, adhere to relevant guidelines to determine the allowability, allocability, reasonableness, and affordability of transactions.
⢠Utilize your growing knowledge of policies and procedures to review, resolve, and approve transactions for assigned departments, including requisitions, vouchers, PCard, ChromeRiver, RAR, and other finance-related transactions.
⢠Collaborate with the Purchasing Coordinator, PIs, and lab staff to rectify any problematic transactions prior to approval. May also serve as the department card administrator.
⢠Employ excellent customer service skills to clarify and uphold policies, seeking mutually beneficial solutions and ensuring follow-through to resolution.

(10%) Effort Certification:

⢠Coordinate the effort certification process and ensure compliance with deadlines.
⢠Monitor committed dollar values, salary cap compliance, and reportable cost-sharing.
⢠Verify that both paid and unpaid efforts are accurately reflected in the payroll system and ECRT.
⢠Make necessary salary adjustments to ensure accurate reporting of effort.

(10%) Additional Duties:

⢠Assist the Finance Director and Finance Manager with ad-hoc reporting as needed.
⢠Provide backup support to other team members and serve as a resource for policy and procedure inquiries.
⢠Participate in job-related training to enhance both general and specialized knowledge in grant and program administration.
⢠Represent the center on various committees.
⢠Engage in special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
