Position Overview

Classification: Part-time; Monday to Friday, 1:30 PM - 6:00 PM; Compensation: $16.00/hour

*Summer camp hours may vary

Role Summary:

This position serves as the Program Director at Bowen's Corner Elementary, focusing on the afterschool initiative.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the execution of various program areas within the organization.
  • Design and manage the implementation of programs.
  • Supervise program staff and handle related administrative tasks.
  • Act as a liaison among parents, educational institutions, community organizations, and Club members.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Director to ensure a wide range of pro-social and youth development opportunities are accessible to all Club members.
  • Facilitate orientation and goal-setting sessions for Club members.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Youth Development-related field or equivalent experience.

Experience: 2-3 years in program delivery.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Understanding of the organization's philosophy, vision, and objectives.
  • Ability to engage with a diverse group of youth aged 4 to 18.
  • Management and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with national and local programs.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships with youth.

Key Duties:

  • Promote and exemplify Core Values.
  • Implement educational curriculum.
  • Organize, direct, and execute programming across the five Core Program Areas of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
  • Provide both individual and group instruction.
  • Maintain discipline and resolve conflicts while enforcing Club regulations.
  • Refer youth needing additional services to suitable agencies.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively among program staff.
  • Engage with volunteers and orient them to the Club environment.
  • Ensure all programs, services, and activities align with the organization's mission, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist program staff in guiding Club members toward suitable program choices.
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings and solicit feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Must be adept at managing multiple projects alongside daily responsibilities. Ability to interact positively with diverse personalities while demonstrating tact, maturity, and flexibility. Physical requirements include visual and auditory capabilities, standing for extended periods, and the ability to implement programs. Essential skills include effective speaking, writing, and computer proficiency.

Work Environment:

Work takes place in afterschool and recreational settings, which may involve both indoor and outdoor activities. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required to support fundraising events and activities.
