REPORTS TO: Branch Director/Program Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for activities within a designated program area, including Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fostering Youth Development

  • Establish a SAFE environment that promotes the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Encourage and enhance program participation while ensuring the five essential elements for positive youth development are present daily:
    • Engagement
    • Supportive Relationships
    • Safe and Positive Environment
    • Opportunities for Growth
    • Expectations and Recognition
  • Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of club members at all times.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model to guide the conduct, safety, and development of all members.
  • Assist in maintaining facilities and equipment to ensure a productive and clean environment, reporting significant issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintain regular professional communication with all staff members, supervisors, and volunteers regarding club operations and member needs.

Program Development and Execution

  • Effectively implement and manage programs, services, and activities for members and visitors aged 6-18.
  • Monitor and assess programs, services, and activities to ensure member safety, program quality, and branch appearance.
  • Collaborate with branch staff to prepare periodic activity reports and receive constructive feedback to enhance skills in program areas.
  • Contribute to a productive work environment by participating in weekly branch staff meetings.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Engage in the implementation and delivery of other unit activities and events as needed.
  • Assist with new member registration and orientation.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain valued daily contact with Club staff (both professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisors to exchange information, discuss issues, and provide guidance.

External: Engage with external community groups, schools, parents of members, and others to assist in problem resolution.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Proficiency in using modern technology and mobile applications.
  • Understanding of youth development principles.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with the public.
  • Capability to plan and implement high-quality programs for youth.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Valid Driver's License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to speak, hear, and use a personal computer for standard business communications, as well as lift up to 15 lbs.
