Position Title: Youth Program Coordinator (Social Recreation)

Supervisor: Club Director

Employment Status: Non-Exempt

Primary Objective:

Facilitate engaging activities within designated program areas, including Education, Special Education (Technology), Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Character & Leadership, Health & Life Skills, and Physical Education.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Instruct Club members on the fundamentals and regulations of recreational activities, such as billiards, foosball, table tennis, and board games. Encourage participation and help members cultivate positive character traits by exemplifying sportsmanship, effective communication, honesty, fair play, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
  • Establish an environment conducive to achieving Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Encourage and enhance program participation.
  • Provide mentorship and serve as a role model for members.
  • Organize and lead games and activities.
  • Oversee and assess programs, services, and activities to ensure member safety, program quality, and club appearance at all times.
  • Supervise children effectively.
  • Enforce the established Boys & Girls Club guidelines.
  • Act as a positive example and attentive listener for members.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols by all children.
  • Account for all children present.
  • Assist with the daily upkeep and maintenance of facilities, grounds, and vehicles.

Interpersonal Relationships:

  • Internal: Maintain communication with Club program staff.
  • External: Engage with members and parents as necessary; provide guidance and/or discipline when required.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Ability to inspire youth and manage behavioral challenges.
  • Capability to organize and supervise members in a secure environment.
  • Ability to enforce Boys & Girls Clubs policies and rules fairly and equitably.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with a safe driving record preferred.

The Clubs provide not only a safe and enjoyable alternative to being home alone but also offer a range of award-winning developmental programs designed to help youth build essential skills, self-esteem, and values during critical growth periods. The twenty Boys & Girls Clubs across Palm Beach County serve over 10,000 children aged 6-18.
