Job Summary

The Village of Orland Park is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This role will provide elevated support to external and internal customers, including applicants, managers, supervisors, employees, and retirees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical, financial, administrative, and project management support to the HR team and external customers.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to understand staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies.
  • Prepare job announcements, advertisements, and other recruitment materials.
  • Coordinate and administer job-related selection procedures, including application reviews, written and performance tests, and interviews.
  • Screen applications for qualifications and provide for the establishment of employment lists.
  • Conduct organizational and classification studies and prepare reports, recommendations, and class descriptions.
  • Administer the Village's employee benefit programs, including explaining benefit options, maintaining individual member benefit records, and distributing information regarding benefit programs and policies.
  • Process and file forms relating to employee benefits and assist with ensuring yearly compliance is met relative to all benefit programs.
  • Collaborate with HR staff to prepare correspondence and packets related to various employee leaves of absences.
  • Track leave cases, including start times, end times, return to work dates, and eligibility dates.
  • Provide assistance regarding employee/labor relations issues, interpret collective bargaining agreements, and conduct research and collect information in support of labor negotiations.
  • Prepare a variety of technical, statistical, and narrative reports, correspondence, and other written materials.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of various employee development and training programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Three to five years of related professional experience in human resources administration, benefits processing, recruitment, and/or training coordination.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of payroll processing.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Extensive understanding of Microsoft Word, Adobe, PowerPoint, spreadsheet creation/manipulation, and database software such as Excel and Access.
  • HRIS system, Tyler Munis, is preferred.

The Village of Orland Park offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including an annual salary of $81,972 - $114,760, depending on experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive employee benefits and wellness program.
