About the Job

The Financial Operations Manager plays a critical role in the day-to-day management of financial tasks by coordinating various activities involved in maintaining the general ledger, revenue recognition, expenditures, assets, and liabilities for multiple clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounts Payable (A/P) Management: Manage the A/P cycle for multiple clients, reviewing and coding invoices, ensuring timely payments to vendors, assisting in vendor dispute resolution when escalated, and ensuring the overall relationships with vendors are in good standing.
  • Accounts Receivable (A/R) Management: Manage A/R tasks for clients, ensuring timely completion and submittal of invoices, ensuring regular follow-up on the status of payments, and ensuring the overall relationship with clients' customers remains in good standing.
  • Cash Management: Manage cash balances, ensuring cash GL accounts are up-to-date no less than weekly, ensuring appropriate funds are available for clients' financial commitments (i.e. A/P, payroll, etc.), and anticipating short-term cash needs.
  • Month-End Close: Timely completion of month-end close tasks as outlined in close checklists for each client. This includes adjusting journal entries for depreciation, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, investments, other assets, and liabilities as needed.
  • Cost Allocations: Cost allocations for functional expenses and partnerships via manual or automated processes.
  • Compliance and Audit Support: Assisting with audit schedules, various types of tax returns, grant and organizational budget preparation, and narratives as needed. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal control processes, and segregation of duties.
  • Other Projects and Tasks: Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Strong Accounting Background: Strong accounting background (experience and education) with solid knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a professional demeanor, are required.
  • Time Management and Multi-Tasking: Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently and effectively to meet critical and aggressive internal and external deadlines.
  • Attention to Detail and Problem-Solving: Great attention to detail, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Independence and Collaboration: Able to work independently, as well as collaboratively to achieve individual and team goals.
  • Proactive and Self-Motivated: Proactive and self-motivated attitude with the drive to take ownership of responsibilities assigned.
Experience and Education
  • Experience in Payroll and Accounting Software: Experience in processing payroll and related journal entries.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills: Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with Advanced Accounting Software: Familiarity with advanced accounting software.
  • Relevant Accounting Experience: 4-6 years (minimum) relevant accounting experience.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (minimum).
