REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering/Engineering Manager

STATUS: Non-exempt

Position Summary

The Engineering Supervisor oversees the daily functions of the engineering division. In the absence of the Director, this role encompasses the administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities of the hotel as they pertain to engineering.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or lead technician role within a hotel or similar industry; or a technical certification accompanied by at least 1 year of supervisory or lead technician experience.
  • Possession of a stationary engineer's license if mandated by local regulations.
  • Proficiency in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance is essential.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Extended hours may be necessary.
  • Heavy lifting – Capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force consistently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

  • Maintain a welcoming and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and guests in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Demonstrate active listening skills to understand and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and staff in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty (M.O.D.) coverage as needed.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with Salamander Collection Standards, which may vary based on hotel needs.
  • Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags.
  • Adhere to Salamander Collection Standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize productivity efforts, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Effectively manage issues, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving problems as necessary.
  • Comprehend and evaluate complex information and data from various sources to achieve appropriate objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Benefits for full-time employees include, but are not limited to, the following with an employee contribution: Medical, Dental, Vision, Short-term Disability, and Long-term Disability after 90 days of employment. Employer-provided Basic Life Insurance and Basic AD&D are available after 90 days of employment. 401K eligibility is offered to full-time employees after 90 days of employment, and part-time employees after working 1000 total hours. Currently, 401K Match is $0.50 on the $1.00 of an employee's contribution up to 6%; there is a 5-year vesting period.
