Position Overview:
The Junior Quantitative Analyst is an integral part of the Balance Sheet Strategy & Analytics team within the Enterprise Risk Management division. This role is crucial for supporting the organization's risk management initiatives, performance evaluation, and financial analysis. The team plays a vital role in managing the asset-liability framework through sophisticated financial modeling, including oversight of interest rate risk assessments and liquidity stress evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Preparation and Automation:
    Utilize advanced scripting tools such as SQL and R or Python to design and maintain data preparation processes. This includes developing data feeds for asset-liability software and creating insightful reports for risk profile analysis.
  • Balance Sheet Analytics:
    Conduct thorough analyses of banking product behaviors and balance sheet activities to forecast cash flow assumptions. This encompasses loan prepayment predictions and deposit decay assessments.
  • Financial Modeling:
    Provide expertise in data modeling to project non-interest revenues that inform financial planning. Document and support all forecasts, ensuring periodic reviews and adjustments of assumptions.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    Translate complex modeling results into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders. Collaborate with business lines to optimize strategies based on analytical findings.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience in statistical analysis or data analytics projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel functionalities.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as PowerQuery and PowerBI.
  • Knowledge of data scripting languages, including SQL and R or Python.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts in an accessible manner.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • Experience in statistical analysis related to balance sheet risk.
  • Understanding of retail or commercial banking products through prior experience in financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with Asset/Liability Management (ALM) modeling and software.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA or FRM are advantageous.
