Key Responsibilities:

As a Transit Service Operator, you will be instrumental in facilitating safe and timely transport for our passengers, linking them to essential destinations such as workplaces, educational institutions, and community gatherings. Your duties will encompass:

  • Expertly navigating a bus along designated routes assigned to each operator.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service, assisting passengers throughout their travel experience.
  • Maintaining adherence to established schedules and ensuring punctuality at designated stops.

Training and Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school education or possession of a GED.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of uninterrupted licensed driving experience.
  • Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license with no more than 2 points accrued in the last three years.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

Understanding the Role:

  • Flexible Scheduling: Our scheduling system may initially appear dynamic. You may receive your schedule for the following day as late as 4 PM the previous day, and we require open availability from 4:20 AM to 11:15 PM daily. While you may not work every day, daily availability is essential.
  • Long-term Benefits: As you gain experience, your schedule will become more stable, allowing for greater control over your working hours. Our union agreement ensures that scheduling is based on seniority, meaning that the longer you remain with us, the more favorable your schedule will be. Although shifts may vary at first, you will work 40 hours per week with opportunities for additional hours. Your commitment will lead to improved scheduling stability and a better work-life balance.
  • CDL Permit Requirement: You will need to obtain a CDL Permit (with passenger and airbrakes endorsements) prior to commencing the role. Comprehensive training for CDL licensing will be provided upon joining.
  • Pre-employment Assessments: A background check, DOT Drug Screen, and DOT Physical will be required before starting the position.
  • Physical Requirements: The role involves occasional standing and walking, frequent to continuous driving, sitting, climbing steps, and reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting. You may need to lift and carry items weighing up to 35 lbs.
