Job Title: Information Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Information Operator to join our team at the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA). As an Information Operator, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming customer calls in a timely and professional manner, providing accurate information and resolving issues to the best of your ability.
  • Schedule passenger trip data, maintaining accurate and current information to ensure efficient transportation services.
  • Greet the general public and provide assistance as needed.
  • Determine the nature of inquiries and respond appropriately, providing information on routes, timetables, and related TARTA data.
  • Be familiar with and practice TARTA's safety protocols to protect yourself, other employees, customers, and citizens of our region.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions as necessary to stay up-to-date on department-specific software and procedures.
  • Sell passes and tickets, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone and computer etiquette required.
  • Computer skills to the extent necessary to perform position requirements.
  • Ability to work well with other TARTA employees and the general public.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate information to staff at various levels within the organization.
  • Ability to listen effectively, assimilate information, and to relate in a clear, friendly, and informative manner.
  • Ability to deal tactfully, patiently, and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds frequently under stressful circumstances.
Work Environment:

The work environment is typical of a busy office setting, with a moderately quiet noise level. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
