Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mobility Specialist to oversee the functional assessment process for individuals applying for complimentary paratransit services. As a key member of our team, you will prepare and maintain assessment reports, records, and training manuals, process applications, and provide exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and assess individuals' eligibility for paratransit services, ensuring a fair and equitable process.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of clients served, transportation services provided, and assessment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Department Assistant to set up and complete in-person, phone, and file assessments.
  • Document and maintain customer files, including records of contacts, file reviews, assessments, and outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with medical staff and personnel to follow up on applications and assessments.
  • Provide instruction and consultation on the use of TARTA, TARPS, and pedestrian safety, as well as community awareness.
  • Maintain records and documentation as required, adhering to TARTA's policies and procedures.
  • Represent TARTA in requests for personalized transportation and presentations to community organizations.
  • Provide information related to public transit travel issues with parents and group homes.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve conflicts regarding No Show penalties.
  • Maintain knowledge of TARTA and TARPS systems and other transportation systems.
  • Conduct meetings with current TARTA and TARPS riders, fostering strong relationships and communication.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Provide feedback to the immediate supervisor that could benefit or improve the program, and may be required to orient individuals assigned to the department.
  • Participate in special transportation committee meetings, contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required, ensuring the effective delivery of mobility services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in social services, education, rehabilitation, or a related field, or four years of equivalent work experience in these areas.
  • One year of experience working in areas of habilitation or habilitation services.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Requires own transportation.
  • Must be physically and functionally qualified to perform all duties assigned to this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
