Bilingual Educational Support Specialist

We are currently seeking a passionate individual to fill the role of Bilingual Educational Support Specialist, dedicated to assisting students and staff in a bilingual educational setting. Our team embodies enthusiasm, compassion, and a commitment to fostering a love for learning.

The Latin American Montessori Bilingual Public Charter School (LAMB) offers a distinctive educational model that delivers bilingual Montessori public education to a diverse urban community. We serve children from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade, promoting values of peace and equality for all.

Position Overview

The Bilingual Educational Support Specialist is tasked with providing both educational and behavioral assistance to students, ensuring an environment conducive to their intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to students, enhancing academic instruction and guiding behavior as necessary.
  • Implement established behavioral strategies and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Assist classroom teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment that accommodates various learning styles.
  • Engage in mandatory professional development sessions and collaborative meetings.
  • Stay informed about current trends, techniques, and technological advancements relevant to the educational program.
  • Support the school's bilingual mission by modeling both first and second languages (Spanish) for all students.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students by adhering to school policies and the Positive Behavior Intervention framework, serving as a role model for appropriate behavior.
  • Collect and analyze daily data to monitor student progress in behavioral and academic areas.
  • Provide constructive feedback to teachers regarding student behavior, performance, and relevant observations.
  • Collaborate with Montessori Teachers, Special Education Teachers, and other educational professionals to address student needs effectively.
  • Participate in school-wide activities, including special events and field trips.
  • Assist the special education team with administrative tasks.
  • Support students during recess, lunch, and transitions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree or 48 college credit hours, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with ABA or RBT training is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with students with disabilities is desirable.
  • Must be energetic, adaptable, creative, and eager to work in a bilingual and multicultural public school environment.
  • Fluency in English is required; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Reports to: SPED Manager
Schedule: Full-time, 10-month position
Salary: $33,619 - $55,567

Compensation:
Salary is based on experience, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical insurance (health, dental, and vision), retirement plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, and paid leave.
