We are seeking a highly skilled CAT Scan Technologist to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic and CT procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues.
- Accurately interpret physicians' scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including demonstrating knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology.
- Select appropriate patient information from the HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Access patient information, schedule exams, appointment times, type of exam, patient reports, etc.
- Follow departmental HIS/RIS system procedures and protocol to ensure orders are verified and processed correctly.
- Effectively assess patients' information and status, and follow appropriate procedure(s) accordingly.
- Use standard procedures to identify the correct patient, review patients' requisitions, and understand the type of exam required by each requisition.
- Consult with medical staff regarding clarification when necessary, follow accepted radiologic procedures, and use medical information to determine the type of protocol required for radiographic examination.
- Recognize the need for and follow isolation precautions, independently implement patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, and explain the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly.
- Solve problems that arise during patient examinations using both technical knowledge and innovation, alter examinations to maximize information in response to patients' conditions, and confer with other technologists concerning previous approaches utilized.
- Demonstrate skill in equipment set-up, utilization, and proper maintenance procedure, perform visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment, and use imaging and peripheral equipment in a safe and productive manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental, and manufacturers' procedures.
- Observe and report any malfunctioning of the equipment and notify appropriate persons in case of missing or damaged equipment.
- Technical Diploma from an AMA-approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services.
- New York State Radiologic Technologist License.
- Advanced Certification in CT required within one (1) year of Hire or transfer.
- New York State Department of Health IV Contrast Injection Certification, (Part 89-Section required within one (1) year of Hire or transfer.
- Strong communication (both written and oral), problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $101, $111,911.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
