Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisory Records and Information Management Specialist to join our team at the Veterans Benefits Administration. As an Assistant Chief, you will play a key role in the administration and management of the division, providing leadership and direction to the team and coordinating activities with other divisions in the Regional Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of assigned programs and develop ways to resolve issues and ensure compliance with federal regulations and agency policies.
  • Direct and improve records control functions using records management and knowledge management principles, concepts, processes, and tools.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team, setting priorities and assigning work based on agency initiatives and goals.
  • Develop milestone plans and objectives for assigned management projects and perform broad and complex studies and analyses across organizational and functional lines.
  • Provide advice and assistance to commands, directorates, offices, and Project Management Offices through on-site visits, correspondence, and/or telephone.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Note: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Specialized Experience

To qualify, applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized Experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant to perform at the journeyman level of this position with little to no training or supervision.

Education

There is NO educational substitution at the GS-13 level.

Promotion Potential: The position is at the Full Performance Level (FPL). Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
