ABOUT THE ROLE

The IT Specialist plays a crucial role in establishing, overseeing, and resolving issues related to the technology systems that support our operations. This position is vital for ensuring seamless functionality, security, and effective management of IT resources. The IT Specialist serves as the primary resource for addressing technical challenges and maintaining dependable systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. System Setup and Management:
  • Configuring and installing computer systems, servers, and network devices.
  • Monitoring and ensuring network connectivity and internet functionality.
  • Maintaining stable operations of all IT systems, including desktops, laptops, and servers.
  • Managing network components, such as Microsoft 365/SharePoint, shared directories, user access, security, software, and file services.
  • Participating in various IT projects as assigned.
  1. Troubleshooting and Support:
  • Addressing hardware issues in a timely manner.
  • Updating system software to ensure it remains current.
  • Tracking data and communications within the network.
  1. Security and Privacy:
  • Implementing security measures to protect data.
  • Monitoring security certificates and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Safeguarding corporate data privacy.
  1. Budget and Inventory:
  • Managing budget allocations for necessary updates and upgrades.
  • Maintaining an inventory of IT equipment, including employee computers.
  • Developing and executing an inventory refresh policy and schedule.

Supervisor Responsibility

This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This role is situated in a professional office setting. The position regularly utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. It involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.

Position Type/Expected Days of Work

This is a full-time role. Standard working days are Monday through Friday, with occasional non-standard hours and weekends.

Required Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred; a minimum of four years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
