Marine Operations Manager

Position Overview:

This role involves the coordination and management of Marine Operations along the US East Coast for the CPNW Vessel string, as well as CMA CGM-operated vessels and those of VSA partners. The position requires effective communication with Port Operators on the US East Coast regarding vessel arrivals and departures, along with oversight of designated services as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee liner services and port operations within the East Coast Region.
  • Manage and authorize labor orders with terminal operators for CMA CGM-operated vessels.
  • Coordinate with the Head Office in Marseille, France, and local terminals regarding coastal vessel schedules, including arrival, departure, and stowage details.
  • Facilitate pilot, tug, linesmen, and bunker operations in collaboration with Boarding Agents.
  • Ensure optimal volume and weight distribution to maximize vessel capacity.
  • Monitor partner load lists to prevent exceeding allocations.
  • Authorize and manage OOG reports and BB moves with NCB.
  • Engage with CMA vessels during port calls to optimize scheduling.
  • Review daily production reports and communicate findings to Head Office and West Coast Teams.
  • Participate in meetings with terminal operators to address productivity issues.
  • Maintain vessel and productivity statistics, including Terminal Departure Reports (TDRs) and daily coastal schedules.
  • Review and contest port and stevedoring invoices as necessary.
  • Analyze and provide feedback on monthly cost reports.
  • Perform additional duties or projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of vessel operations at specific terminal locations.
  • Proficient knowledge of stowage and terminal operations.
  • Familiarity with union contracts related to vessel operations.
  • Ability to convey clear and concise vessel-related instructions.
  • Capability to interpret contractual obligations specific to each terminal.
  • Ability to operate under time constraints to ensure timely vessel dispatch.
  • Physical fitness to board vessels in port or at sea when necessary.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and in adverse weather conditions if needed.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Master's License and completion of a Port Executive Program are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Maritime or Intermodal/Logistics sectors is required.
  • Hazardous certification is essential.
