Position Overview:

University Radiology, the foremost provider of specialized radiology and teleradiology services in New Jersey, boasts a team of over 180 Board Certified radiologists with extensive U.S.-based training across all modalities and subspecialties. With a legacy spanning more than 60 years, we manage and deliver both preliminary and final subspecialty interpretations and consultative support for various medical facilities, serving as the academic radiology faculty at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Our team interprets over 2.1 million radiology procedures annually.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and verify necessary documentation to comply with insurance company requirements, ensuring accuracy before and after submission.
  • Request, follow up, and secure prior authorizations prior to the provision of services. Communicate with payers to obtain prior authorization and gather additional clinical or coding information as needed.
  • Engage effectively with payers through electronic, telephonic, and fax communications.
  • Collaborate with designated clinical contacts for orders requiring escalation to peer-to-peer review.
  • Prioritize workload efficiently to ensure urgent cases are addressed promptly, utilizing registration system notes to document vital information related to verification and pre-certification.
  • Meet or exceed performance standards with a target of 40-45 daily preauthorization submissions.
  • Communicate challenges and potential impacts to the management team, along with possible solutions.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to Physician Referral Organizations, internal team members, and patients.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CPT/ICD9/ICD10 coding systems.
  • Strong customer relations skills and the ability to organize and interpret data effectively.
  • Demonstrated good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent time management skills to minimize stress.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a high call volume and fast-paced work environment.
  • Familiarity with insurance contracts and reimbursement processes.
  • Proficient in navigating insurance websites.
  • Capacity to learn quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to personal improvement.
  • Effective participation in meetings, providing constructive feedback and suggestions to enhance workflows.
  • Strong computer skills.
