Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Learning Lead Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our Early Learning program, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing engaging and educational activities for infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Plan and lead daily lesson plans, incorporating a variety of activities and games to promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring the well-being and supervision of children at all times.
  • Communication: Provide weekly lesson plans to parents, as well as daily updates on individual activities and progress.
  • Materials and Supplies: Prepare materials for daily activities, maintain records of attendance and arrival/departure times, and ensure the quality and quantity of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences: Conduct annual parent-teacher conferences to discuss individual child progress and goals.
  • Discipline and Behavior Management: Discipline children in a fair and consistent manner, recommending or initiating other measures to control behavior as needed.
  • Parent Concerns: Handle parent concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Infant/Toddler CDA preferred, or proof of current enrollment in CDA or college-level Early Childhood Education program required.
  • Experience: Six months to one year of childcare-related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Certifications: Blood Borne Pathogen training, CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT), Fingerprinting, DHS clearance, and Negative T.B. skin test.
