Job Title: Early Learning Assistant Teacher

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Learning Assistant Teacher to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. As an Early Learning Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities for our programs.

Job Summary:

The Early Learning Assistant Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher in developing and leading daily lesson plans, actively engaging with children in the classroom, and maintaining records of attendance, arrival, and departure times. This position requires face-to-face leadership in the program and may involve early morning responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist Lead Teacher in developing and leading daily lesson plans
  • Actively engage with children in the classroom
  • Assist with daily parent communication
  • Prepares materials for daily activity
  • Maintains records of attendance, arrival, and departure times
  • Maintains supervision of children
  • Assists Site Supervisor with parent-teacher conferences as needed
  • Efficiently communicates with classroom teaching team
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or CDA preferred; three to six months childcare related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddler, and preschool children
