Job Title: Early Learning Lead Teacher

Job Summary:

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Early Learning Lead Teacher to join our team. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities for infants and toddlers. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and lead daily lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development in infants and toddlers.
  • Organize and participate in games and activities that foster a love of learning and promote socialization.
  • Provide weekly lesson plans to parents and maintain open communication with them.
  • Prepare materials for daily activities and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Maintain records of attendance and arrival and departure times.
  • Supervise children at all times and ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences at least annually and maintain a positive relationship with parents.
  • Maintain the quality and quantity of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom.
  • Discipline children in a fair and consistent manner and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior.
  • Handle parent concerns and provide support and guidance to parents.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Infant/Toddler CDA preferred, or proof of current enrollment in CDA or college-level Early Childhood Education program required.
  • 6 months to 1 year of childcare-related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
  • Ability and desire to work with infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications.
  • YMCA experience preferred.
Certifications:
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • CPR Certification required within the first 60 days.
  • First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days.
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT).
  • Fingerprinting.
  • DHS clearance.
  • Negative T.B. skin test.
