Position Title: Special Projects Group Project Engineer

Position Overview

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 - based on experience

Classification: Exempt / Non-Exempt

Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. - Sponsorship not available

General Summary:

Provide comprehensive project management assistance to Project Managers through effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document management, and cost forecasting. Collaborate with superintendents, foremen, engineers, detailers, and management to ensure the successful delivery of quality and profitable projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support the bidding process and the acquisition of new projects.

2. Evaluate and negotiate change orders.

3. Monitor, forecast, and report on labor hours and material expenses.

4. Procure major equipment and subcontract services.

5. Coordinate and track the delivery of essential equipment/materials.

6. Maintain a thorough understanding of project contracts and specifications.

7. Ensure document control adheres to UMC Standards and contractual obligations.

8. Work with field supervision to organize and schedule project activities, including the preparation of integrated project schedules.

9. Review and analyze contract drawings and specifications.

10. Prepare fabrication work packages, including drawing reviews, material take-offs, and fabrication budgeting.

11. Uphold compliance with UMC's Safety Program at job sites.

12. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Foster and maintain client relationships.

2. Enhance and retain knowledge of mechanical systems, including engineering, estimating, construction practices, and financial management.



Position Requirements

Essential Skills:


• Proficient in estimating mechanical work accurately.


• Ability to cultivate a positive work environment.


• Understanding and communication of basic mechanical concepts.


• Strong organizational and time management capabilities.


• Attention to detail to prevent significant financial losses.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Strong work ethic focused on results.


• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.


• Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, Project, Access, and AutoCAD.

Supervisory Role:


• None

Education and Experience:


• Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering preferred.

Licensing:


• Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record required.
