Position Title: Project Manager - Special Projects Group

Position Overview

Salary Range: $84,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience

Classification: Exempt

Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. - Sponsorship is not available

General Summary:

The Project Manager will spearhead the development, estimation, sales, and management of various specialized mechanical construction projects. This role requires effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document management, and financial forecasting to ensure project profitability. The successful candidate will also be responsible for generating business strategies and expanding revenue through marketing and business development initiatives. Additionally, the Project Manager will mentor and oversee the Project Engineers within the Special Projects Group, collaborating closely with superintendents, foremen, engineers, detailers, and management to deliver high-quality, profitable projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assume leadership and accountability for project estimates, scoping, proposals, safety protocols, and execution, ensuring departmental profitability targets are met or exceeded.

2. Provide conceptual designs for HVAC and plumbing systems to support estimation processes.

3. Analyze mechanical systems' costs and conduct value assessments.

4. Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.

5. Review estimates prepared by team members and develop project budgets.

6. Negotiate and manage change orders effectively.

7. Monitor, forecast, and report on labor hours and material expenses.

8. Oversee the procurement of major equipment and subcontractors.

9. Coordinate and track the delivery of essential equipment and materials.

10. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of project contracts, scopes of work, and specifications.

11. Review contract documents, detailed drawings, and specifications thoroughly.

12. Prepare fabrication shop work packages, including detailed drawing reviews, material take-offs, and fabrication budget estimates.

Required Skills:

1. Proficient in accurately estimating mechanical work.

2. Strong understanding of basic mechanical concepts and the ability to communicate them effectively.

3. Advanced proficiency in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Project, Access, and AutoCAD.

Supervisory Duties:

Oversee the Project Engineers within the Special Projects Group.



Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of two years' experience in mechanical project management.

• Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering preferred.

• At least one year of experience managing Project Engineers.

• Fundamental knowledge of HVAC and plumbing engineering principles.

Licensing:

• Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record required.
