General Overview:

The role involves providing project management assistance to Project Managers through effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document management, and forecasting of expenses and profitability. Collaborate and engage with company superintendents, foremen, engineers, detailers, and management to ensure the delivery of high-quality and profitable projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the bidding process and securing new projects.
  2. Estimate and negotiate adjustments to contracts.
  3. Monitor, predict, and report on labor hours and material expenses.
  4. Oversee the procurement of major equipment and subcontracting.
  5. Facilitate and monitor the delivery of significant equipment/materials.
  6. Maintain a thorough understanding of general conditions, work scope, and specifications of project contracts/subcontracts.
  7. Ensure document management adheres to UMC Standards and contractual obligations.
  8. Work with field labor supervision to plan, organize, and schedule project activities, including the preparation of integrated project schedules.
  9. Review contract documents, detailed drawings, and specifications.
  10. Prepare fabrication shop work packages, including detail drawing assessments, material take-offs, and fabrication budget estimates.
  11. Ensure adherence to UMC Safety Program at the job site.
  12. Regular attendance and punctuality are considered essential job functions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain relationships with clients.
  2. Enhance and retain knowledge of mechanical systems, including engineering, estimating, construction practices, and financial management.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to accurately estimate mechanical work.
  • Capability to lead and cultivate a positive work environment.
  • Understanding and communication of basic mechanical concepts.
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail - errors can lead to significant financial repercussions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Robust work ethic - results-oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple job responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Proficient in advanced computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Project, Access, and AutoCAD.

Supervisory Role: None

Education and Experience Requirements:

A degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering is preferred.

Licensing or Certifications:

Must maintain a valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.
