Job Overview

This position entails responsible clerical duties associated with the preparation and management of court documents and the upkeep of court records. Responsibilities include:
  • Inputting court case data into the JUSTICE database system.
  • Providing assistance at the counter and via telephone to the public, litigants, and legal representatives.
  • Composing, compiling, proofreading, and distributing necessary correspondence or requested documents to relevant parties.
  • Assessing and collecting court fees, costs, and payments, and issuing receipts.

Compliance and Regulations

It is essential to recognize and adhere to federal and state laws, as well as Supreme Court and local court rules and regulations, applying them diligently in the execution of the Clerk's responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ideal candidates will possess:
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary office equipment, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the legal process, court proceedings, and judicial systems.
  • Understanding of legal terminology, documents, forms, and standard correspondence.
  • Adaptability to technological advancements.
  • Experience with the JUSTICE System is preferred.
  • Capability to prepare, create, and/or process legal forms, documents, reports, and correspondence in accordance with state statutes and relevant court rules.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be high school graduates or possess an equivalent qualification, along with six months of experience in a clerical role, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
