Position Overview

The College of Arts & Sciences encompasses a wide range of academic departments, centers, and programs, managing an instructional budget exceeding $100 million. We are seeking a proactive and self-motivated individual to join our dedicated Finance Team, which is focused on delivering exceptional fiscal support to various College units in alignment with their academic and research objectives.

This role offers avenues for professional advancement and skill enhancement.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal communication and analytical problem-solving abilities, alongside the capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

This position entails conducting research, analyzing financial data, and providing clear explanations of detailed assessments related to departmental budgets and financial operations. Responsibilities include assisting units with comprehensive fiscal services such as transaction processing, budgeting, reconciliations, salary distributions, and supporting Principal Investigators in overseeing their restricted awards.

There may also be opportunities to offer training and support to fiscal staff within departmental units as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the annual budgeting process, including reserve categorization, projections, and other university-wide initiatives.
  • Perform reconciliations for all indices related to salary, operating, and plant fund expenditures to ensure budgetary compliance and manage restricted funds.
  • Facilitate the distribution of funding from the College to respective departments.
  • Process financial transactions such as labor redistributions, journal vouchers, and the preparation of regular and special billings.
  • Handle reimbursements, purchasing requisitions, and other fiscal transactions.
  • Assist with special projects and reporting as necessary.
  • Collaborate with departments to develop budgets, financial statements, and analytical reports.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree and have successfully completed at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting, including intermediate accounting, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.

Higher degrees from accredited institutions may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Banner Finance, Chrome River, LoboMart, MyReports systems, and ad-hoc reporting tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience managing restricted funds (contracts and grants), ensuring compliance with agency and federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of University fiscal policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple units on budget development and specific projects.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience with account reconciliations.

This position is classified as regular full-time staff and is exempt from overtime.

Compensation
Monthly Salary: $3,589.73 - $5,040.53, depending on experience.
