Job Responsibilities and QualificationsOur Clinical Laboratory Technologists are tasked with delivering precise and timely laboratory results to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating patients. The role involves conducting tests and reporting findings from laboratory procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute all approved laboratory procedures within your licensed areas, requiring significant theoretical knowledge and technical skill.
- Utilize independent judgment with minimal to moderate supervision.
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing routine procedures, interpreting results, and taking necessary actions, while managing workload for efficiency and timely reporting based on patient needs.
- Assess the acceptability of results according to established standards and seek assistance from more experienced colleagues when necessary.
- Document corrective actions when quality control results deviate from established limits, adhering to policies, procedures, and CAP proficiency standards.
- Follow best practice methodologies, demonstrating compliance with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Ensure high-quality test performance through daily maintenance and inventory management.
- Practice infection control measures, including proper hand hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment, while maintaining a clean work environment.
- Current registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist by ASCP.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field, along with completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program.
- Previous experience in a hospital laboratory setting is preferred.
