Medical Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at Doctors Hospital of Augusta. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing accurate and timely laboratory results to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, and microbiology.
  • Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including automated analyzers and microscopes.
  • Interpret laboratory results and communicate findings to healthcare providers.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with advances in laboratory technology and techniques.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a hospital laboratory setting.
