Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical care and support to hospitalized patients, working closely with our veterinarians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Triage and admit emergency cases
  • Provide nursing care to critically ill or injured patients, ensuring consistent evaluation and monitoring
  • Demonstrate proficiency in advanced hospitalization care and continuous rate infusions (CRIs)
  • Perform in-house laboratory procedures
  • Skillfully place intravenous (IV) catheters
  • Conduct accurate and detailed patient rounds
  • Safely restrain fractious and frightened patients
  • Obtain temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR) measurements and maintain medical records
  • Recognize situations requiring immediate attention from a veterinarian
  • Act as an advocate for both the patient and client
Requirements:
  • High school diploma
  • 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or 3 consecutive years of Veterinary Assistant experience in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit (ER/CCU) setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients, demonstrating tact, patience, and professional courtesy while maintaining confidentiality and discretion
  • Proficiency in mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, estimates, and other related calculations
  • Hold or obtain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer into the role (waived if a valid CA-RVT license is held)
Compensation and Benefits:
  • $25.00 - $40.00 hourly plus shift differentials
