As a Ground Support Equipment Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting inspections and performing maintenance on ground support equipment utilized in aviation operations.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling ground support machinery.
  • Refueling and servicing ground support equipment with necessary fluids such as fuel, oil, and hydraulic fluid.
  • Diagnosing equipment issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Assembling and constructing mechanical components in accordance with specifications.
  • Inspecting engines, transmissions, and other machinery, running diagnostic tests to identify functionality problems.
  • Executing repairs with a focus on ensuring maximum reliability.
  • Performing comprehensive maintenance on various machinery, equipment, and systems.
  • Applying lubricants and cleaning machinery components as needed.
  • Replenishing fluids and components in engines and machinery.
  • Providing guidance on proper maintenance and preventative measures to equipment users.
  • Maintaining logs of work performed and reporting on equipment issues.
  • Completing necessary paperwork related to ground support equipment.

Key Responsibilities

This role entails essential functions, which may be performed in various environmental conditions, including exposure to precipitation, extreme temperatures, and noise. Tasks will be conducted both indoors and outdoors, near stationary and moving aircraft.

  • Regularly lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Reading, writing, and fluently communicating in English.
  • Understanding and following written instructions and correspondence.
  • Effectively presenting information in small group settings.
  • Addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Applying common sense to execute detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Performing basic mathematical operations in various units of measure.
  • Demonstrating strong knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems.
  • Utilizing various hand tools and precision measurement instruments.
  • Adhering to established procedures and reading blueprints and instructions.
  • Committing to all health and safety protocols.
  • Exhibiting strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrating problem-solving capabilities.
  • Maintaining good physical strength and stamina.
Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, along with one (1) year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug tests, and maintain eligibility for an airport security badge.
  • Legal authorization to work in the country of employment.
  • Prior experience with ground support equipment or heavy machinery is preferred.
  • Possession of personal tools is required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is advantageous.
  • Preferred valid certification (ASE).

Compensation varies based on factors such as skill set, education, shift, responsibilities, seniority, geographical market, and experience. The pay range for this position is $38.50 per hour.
