As a Ground Support Equipment Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting inspections and maintenance on ground support equipment utilized in aviation operations.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling ground support machinery.

Core Responsibilities

The following tasks are essential to the role, in addition to those listed above. Duties may be performed in various weather conditions, including precipitation, extreme temperatures, and exposure to jet engine fumes, dust, and noise. Tasks are carried out both indoors and outdoors near stationary and moving aircraft.

  • Regularly lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Reading, writing, and fluently communicating in English.
  • Understanding and following written instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Composing routine business correspondence.
  • Effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers, supervisors, and colleagues.

  • Performing basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Demonstrating excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components.

  • Adhering to established procedures and practices while interpreting instructions and blueprints.
  • Committing to all health and safety guidelines.
  • Possessing strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, along with one (1) year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug tests, and maintain eligibility for an airport security badge.
  • Legal authorization to work in the country of employment.
  • Prior experience with ground support equipment or heavy machinery is preferred.
  • Possession of personal tools is required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is advantageous.
  • Valid ASE certification is preferred.

Compensation varies based on multiple factors, including skill sets, education, shift worked, responsibilities, seniority, geographical market, merit, output, productivity, prior training or experience, and travel. The pay range for this position is $38.50 per hour.
