Job Overview

Talnt is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for conducting high-complexity laboratory testing on patient specimens, including the isolation of nucleic acids using proprietary methods and next-generation sequencing (NGS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory testing and analysis using molecular biology protocols and SOPs.
  • Extract nucleic acids from various sample types, including human tissue, blood, and bone marrow.
  • Construct DNA libraries and perform NGS.
  • Analyze and resolve sample and/or plate issues using data from SOPs, LIMS, and instrument files.
  • Review patient and control data, document according to laboratory quality procedures, and communicate shifts, trends, or abnormal data.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies and collaborate with the supply chain group to support point-of-use supplies.
  • Contribute to training efforts and create training materials.
  • Perform daily maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of SOPs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
  • 1+ years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • MB (ASCP) certification.
  • FL certification to work as a medical technologist in a molecular diagnostics laboratory.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory concepts and applications, laboratory safety, and CLIA/CAP/FL regulatory requirements.
  • Technically proficient in basic molecular techniques and related equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality control and quality assurance procedures.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Capability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Experience in teaching or training junior technologists in assigned duties.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management software (LIMS) and data management programs.
  • Ability to analyze data trends and provide problem-solving solutions.
