Position Overview

The Brewery Taproom Operations Leader is responsible for steering the hospitality sector of August Schell Brewing Company. We are in search of a dedicated individual who shares our vision of making beer accessible and exceptional, and who is eager to enhance sales in our taproom and event spaces.

Key Responsibilities

This role presents a unique opportunity for those looking to make a significant impact on our sales, customer service, and brand presence. The Taproom Operations Leader will report directly to the General Manager of the Visitors Center and will oversee the effective functioning of our taprooms while meeting sales and operational objectives.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high degree of independence, creativity, and leadership skills, alongside experience in personnel management. This position requires local travel between various company locations and availability during evenings and weekends.

Operational Duties
  • Ensure the seamless operation of the taprooms by maintaining appropriate staffing levels and providing necessary resources for staff to perform their duties efficiently.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere and ensure that our products are served at their best.
  • Communicate effectively with the General Manager regarding any significant issues, providing timely updates and suggesting corrective actions when necessary.
  • Uphold the positive image of August Schell Brewing Company by embodying our Core Values.
  • Lead, schedule, and support staff across all taproom locations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet sales targets and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to organize community events and initiatives that enhance brand visibility and attract customers.
  • Manage operational costs in alignment with the annual budget for taproom locations.
  • Assist in driving revenue from private events in conjunction with the General Manager and marketing team.
  • Evaluate staffing requirements, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while maintaining a clean and secure environment.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and implement improvements based on feedback.
  • Assist in coordinating entertainment and food services for events.
  • Plan and execute private events, managing logistics and on-site operations.
  • Keep staff informed about upcoming events and operational changes.
  • Enforce cash handling procedures and maintain equipment in good working order.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as marketing, hospitality, or business management is preferred. A minimum of three years of management experience in a hospitality or restaurant environment is required.

Key skills include:

  • Familiarity with budget management and sales forecasting.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic mathematical skills and proficiency in using POS systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Candidates must have reliable communication methods and transportation for travel between locations. Availability to work 40 hours per week, including nights and weekends, is essential. The ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy loads with assistance is also required. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
