Job Overview

Salary:
Southwest Construction is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to become an integral part of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on our modern fleet of construction equipment.
  • Accurately document all repairs performed.
  • Familiarity with engine components from brands such as Cat, Case, Deutz, Volvo, John Deere, Isuzu, and Kubota is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Perform road tests, inspections, and troubleshooting to evaluate and diagnose equipment conditions.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnose, adjust, disassemble, and repair gas and diesel engines, fuel systems, air conditioning, and brake systems on various construction equipment including skid steers, excavators, boom lifts, and more.
  • Adjust or repair hydraulic components, lift booms, and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical system components, including ignition, lighting, and controls, as well as troubleshoot computer-controlled systems.
  • Field repairs may be required during on-site construction projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with other shop and job site personnel.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Possess or acquire necessary tools for the job.
  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of gas and diesel construction equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • ASE certification or completion of an accredited technical program is beneficial but not essential.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Knowledge of materials, parts, tools, and basic principles related to construction equipment repair.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends if necessary.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Graduation or enrollment in an accredited technical school is preferred.
