About the Role:

Holt CAT, the premier Caterpillar dealership for heavy machinery in the United States, is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Maintenance Specialist. This full-time position involves providing exceptional customer service at various off-site locations.


The specialist will be tasked with the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of diesel-powered heavy machinery and related components, adhering to established protocols and standards.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
  • A minimum of two years of experience in diesel-powered heavy equipment repair in a field setting is preferred.
  • MSHA certification is a plus.
  • Air conditioning certification is advantageous.
  • Crane/Rigger certifications are preferred.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Graduation from a diesel technology program is preferred.
Additional Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
  • Possession of all necessary mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard).
  • Willingness to travel, including potential overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities:

The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Specialist will:
  • Adhere to safety policies and practices at all times.
  • Perform minor repairs and troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Remove and install parts, and assemble/disassemble basic components.
  • Test and verify the proper operation of repairs and adjustments.
  • Complete job-related documentation, including service reports and parts orders.
  • Maintain service vehicle inspection records and comply with DOT regulations.
  • Communicate job progress effectively to supervisors and customers.
  • Complete assigned training courses and safety training promptly.
  • Project professionalism in all interactions with customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

The role requires:
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Frequent movement and dexterity in using limbs.
  • Capability to ascend and descend equipment safely.
  • Visual and auditory response to signals and instructions.
