Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts maintenance, repairs, and refueling of various diesel and gasoline heavy machinery, including trucks, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, water pumps, and paving equipment through oil and transmission fluid changes, filter replacements, fluid level checks, and inspections for damage or wear.
  • Identifies mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Performs overhauls and tune-ups on gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Fixes and replaces clutches and automatic transmissions.
  • Repairs electrical systems, including lights, switches, alternators, starters, batteries, and wiring issues.
  • Services and replaces fuel and water pumps.
  • Maintains disc, drum, air, and hydraulic braking systems.
  • Repairs and replaces steering linkages and suspension components.
  • Services air conditioning and heating systems.
  • Prepares vehicles for inspections.
  • Engages in welding and fabrication of equipment.
  • Cleans and inspects parts.
  • Tests and operates machinery.
  • Documents and maintains records of fueling and maintenance activities.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Prior mechanical service experience in the equipment rental or construction sector is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Valid CDL driver's license with a Hazardous Materials endorsement is required.
  • Must maintain a driving record in good standing.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have personal tools.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Involves activities requiring handling and grasping with hands while performing repairs or maintenance using hand tools, power tools, air tools, and other small components.
  • Occasional use of feet to operate equipment foot pedals for testing.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., and infrequent lifting of up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb over and into heavy machinery multiple times daily.
  • Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noises, dust, gas, and/or fumes.
  • Exposure to construction environments.
Education, Experience, and Required Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Familiarity with computer testing technologies.
Three years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance, including fueling heavy machinery, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
