Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural Materials group in our Plymouth, Michigan office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and executing structural engineering tasks for various projects related to assessment and restoration design of concrete, masonry, steel, wood elements, and structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee structural engineering tasks for a variety of projects, including assessment and restoration design of concrete, masonry, steel, wood elements, and structures.
  • Develop and execute detailed design, calculations, and repair details and specifications.
  • Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to junior-level team members.
  • Work directly with project managers to implement project goals and objectives.
  • Delegate duties to junior-level staff as needed and conduct quality checks on various aspects of projects.
  • Mentor and train junior-level team members.
  • Interact with client representatives and SME subcontractors.
  • Participate in professional organizations to enhance SME's expertise.
  • Work in varied environments, including sitting and using a computer for prolonged periods, working in confined spaces, and at heights greater than six feet.
  • Travel locally and out-of-area, requiring a valid driver's license and passport.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering required; Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Eight plus years of technical design experience with structural design of concrete, masonry, steel, wood elements, and structures.
  • PE license.
  • Experience with assessment and design of prestressed concrete elements/structures.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards, including AISC-360, ASCE-7, ACI-318, and others.
  • Experience using industry-standard design software, such as STAAD, RISA, IES, or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems and work well in a team environment.
  • Exemplify safe work practices and follow company compliance standards.
