We are currently seeking a seasoned structural engineer to enhance our Michigan Region team, which focuses on providing comprehensive services for bridges and transportation structures. This role encompasses engineering design, project management, and contributions to business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Oversee and guide structural engineering projects throughout the region.
  • Structural Analysis: Conduct analyses for the design of new and existing transportation structures, including bridges, foundations, retaining walls, and culverts.
  • Field Services: Execute inspections and assessments for bridges and culverts, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed reports and cost estimates for structural projects.
  • Design Criteria Development: Establish high-level design criteria and delegate tasks to team members for the creation of construction drawings and bid documents.
  • Contract Management: Lead negotiations regarding project scope, fees, and contract amendments as necessary.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that quality control and quality assurance processes are adhered to for all team projects.
  • Mentorship: Support the development and training of junior staff within the Structures Team.
  • Client Relations: Collaborate with business development staff to pursue new projects and maintain relationships with existing clients.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay informed about technological advancements and regulatory changes affecting the transportation sector.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, along with a Michigan Professional Engineer (PE) license; a Structural Engineer (SE) license is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in designing transportation and vertical building structures.
  • In-depth knowledge of MDOT's Bridge Design Manual and application procedures is essential; familiarity with NBIS standards is a plus.
  • Proven project management experience, including scope, schedule, and budget development.
  • Experience working with Michigan public sector clients is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in various structural design and modeling software, including MicroStation and Open Bridge Designer; knowledge of STAAD.PRO is beneficial.
  • Strong ability to pursue new projects and foster relationships with clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of delivering effective client presentations and producing comprehensive reports.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
