Position Overview: We are seeking a qualified Senior Structural Engineer to play a vital role within our Structural Materials group in our Plymouth, Michigan office.


Key Responsibilities:

- Direct, supervise, and execute structural engineering assignments across a range of projects focused on the evaluation and rehabilitation of concrete, masonry, steel, and wood structures.

- Perform detailed design work, calculations, and the creation of repair specifications and details.

- Assign tasks to project team members and provide mentorship to junior engineers.

- Collaborate closely with project managers to achieve project objectives.

- Ensure quality control across various project elements, including timelines, deliverables, and invoicing, to facilitate timely project completion.

- Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering their professional development.

- Engage with clients and subcontractors to maintain strong working relationships.

- Promote SME's expertise by participating in relevant professional organizations.

- Adapt to diverse work environments, which may include prolonged computer use, confined spaces, and heights exceeding six feet, as well as laboratory or field settings.

- Travel may be required, including local and occasional out-of-area trips; a valid driver's license and passport are necessary.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.

- A minimum of eight years of experience in structural design involving concrete, masonry, steel, and wood.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

- Proficiency in the assessment and design of prestressed concrete structures.

- Familiarity with current industry standards such as AISC-360, ASCE-7, and ACI-318.

- Experience with design software like STAAD, RISA, or equivalent tools.

- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service.

- Ability to identify challenges and collaborate effectively within a team.

- Adherence to safe work practices and compliance with company standards.
