The Position: Sous Chef

We are seeking a skilled Sous Chef to help drive restaurant operations. The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting an inclusive, innovative, and collaborative culture. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring The Smith standards are maintained for all team members
  • Writing prep lists, checking methods of preparation, and auditing kitchen operations
  • Maintaining compliance with DOL/Health Department regulations and upholding company food safety, food handling, and sanitation requirements
  • Supervising the preparation of all food items in the kitchen
  • Ensuring stations are kept clean and organized throughout the shift
  • Providing feedback and guidance focusing on support and hospitality
  • Overseeing company systems and policies
  • Ordering product and managing inventory to ensure freshness and timely use

The base pay range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications, and skills, etc.

Location: This position is located in Washington, DC
