Job Overview

The Operations Supervisor for HVAC Services is tasked with overseeing the administration and effective daily functions, including service operations, sales, customer relations, and safety protocols in alignment with A&J Refrigeration's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interprets and evaluates written or verbal communications, reports, and proposals.
  • Guides team members in troubleshooting commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Analyzes financial reports, sales metrics, and performance data to assess productivity and identify areas for cost optimization and service enhancement.
  • Manages inventory for tools, equipment, materials, and safety supplies.
  • Reviews production timelines and estimates labor needs for job completion, including preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Communicates company policies effectively to team members.
  • Conducts inspections of work environments, tools, and safety equipment, providing training to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Implements procedures for reporting and managing workplace incidents.
  • Enhances operational processes to drive efficiency and profitability within the service division.
  • Translates specifications, blueprints, and job orders to staff, assigning tasks accordingly.
  • Collaborates with dispatchers to address customer and technical inquiries.
  • Proposes strategies to elevate service quality and performance for clients.
  • Assesses warranty, service, repair, and installation requirements.
  • Recommends improvements in working conditions and processes to boost branch efficiency and customer service.
  • Identifies and resolves workplace challenges, assisting team members as needed.
  • Initiates motivational plans to help staff meet performance targets.
  • Ensures accuracy in timekeeping and production records.
  • Supervises service managers and team leads directly.
  • Fulfills supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and legal regulations.
  • Identifies training needs and facilitates appropriate training sessions for staff.
  • Supervisory duties include recruiting, hiring, and training personnel; planning and directing work; evaluating performance; and addressing employee concerns.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other related tasks as necessary to ensure the effective operation of the unit.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

  • A Technical or Bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of five years of proven experience in HVAC service management is essential.
  • Knowledge of the HVAC industry is required.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.
  • Capability to perform advanced maintenance tasks on HVAC systems.
  • EPA Universal Certification is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are recommended.
  • Ability to generate innovative ideas and processes to expand the service department.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting safety regulations, operational instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management and staff.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting are required.

Work Conditions

  • Ability to climb ladders and lift equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and electrical hazards.
  • May require travel to customer locations.
