Position Overview:
As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of surgical instruments and supplies. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of sterile processing, including:

  • Decontamination: Cleaning and disinfecting instruments and equipment.
  • Processing: Inspecting, assembling, and packaging sterile items.
  • Sterilization: Utilizing appropriate methods to ensure items are free from microorganisms.
  • Sterile Storage: Properly storing sterile items to maintain their integrity.
  • Distribution: Ensuring timely delivery of sterile supplies to various departments.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of Sterile Processing Certification within 18 months of hire.

Core Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to the role:

  • Deliver exceptional patient care through prompt and accurate service.
  • Maintain precise records of cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes.
  • Monitor and enforce infection control policies to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Establish and uphold sterile processing standards.
  • Implement changes to align with new regulations and best practices.
  • Review and enhance current practices for improved service quality.

Physical Requirements:
The role demands the following physical capabilities:

  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Capability to stand, walk, bend, and rotate for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and maneuver carts exceeding 200 pounds.

Working Environment:
Employees may encounter various hazards, including:

  • High-pressure steam, chemicals, and bio-waste.
  • Environmental variations such as temperature and noise.
  • Extended use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
