About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Access Specialist to join our team at UT Health San Antonio. As an Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient experience and ensuring seamless access to our clinical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle a high volume of patient and clinical business calls, averaging 60-65 calls per day, and provide a positive patient experience.
  • Complete patient registration, including obtaining accurate patient demographics and verifying insurance information.
  • Schedule appointments for new and existing patients, adhering to clinic scheduling guidelines and protocols.
  • Assist patients with questions, concerns, medication refill requests, and send messages to providers or clinical staff.
  • Perform after-hours duties and responsibilities to assist patients with urgent medical or health concerns.
  • Meet or exceed UT Health metrics for contact center performance standards, focusing on quality, accuracy, and timeliness of every call.
  • Master knowledge to provide exceptional service and appointment scheduling for primary clinics and participate in cross-training for additional clinics.
  • Maintain call quality assessment scores of 95% - 100% consistently.
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor in appearance and behavior in all work-related interactions.
  • Participate in ongoing technical, customer service, and other training to continually improve skills.
  • Adapt to operational changes based on business needs.
  • Comply with all clinical policies and procedures and HIPAA compliance.
  • Meet or exceed time and attendance expectations as defined in UT Health Attendance Policies.
Requirements
  • Bilingual preferred, but not required.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of customer service experience.
  • Clinical or healthcare experience is preferred with some knowledge in medical terminology.
