VP, Government Affairs Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Government Affairs Specialist to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a key member of our External Affairs organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to advance our company's state government advocacy, growth, and relationship priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive effective advocacy efforts to advance our company's state advocacy and growth opportunities
- Foster relationships with key state and local elected officials, legislative staff, and agency officials
- Engage in lobbying activities and advocacy efforts with the State Legislature and Executive branch
- Develop and maintain relationships with influential third parties, including industry partners and advocacy groups
- Anticipate and influence legislative and regulatory initiatives that may impact our company
- Direct our state advocacy consultants on key advocacy, growth, and relationship development priorities
- Contribute to comprehensive strategic plans that leverage direct advocacy, policy research, coalitions, and public opinion to advance our company's objectives
- Develop and contribute to timely written deliverables with the highest standards of professionalism
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience working with the state Legislature, Executive Branch, municipal government officials, government relations, public policy, advocacy, government affairs, or campaigns
- Local and commutable to Minnetonka, MN offices
Preferred Qualifications
- Political campaign experience
- Healthcare industry experience
