Position Overview:
The Credit Risk Assessment Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the bank's credit risk by executing various responsibilities. This position involves conducting thorough evaluations of the bank's commercial, consumer, and real estate lending practices to ensure adherence to established guidelines and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Review of Commercial and Agricultural Loans - 50%:
  • Execute independent assessments of commercial, agricultural, and commercial real estate loans to identify emerging risks and validate the integrity of the bank's risk rating systems and lending processes.
  • Engage in continuous evaluations of all types of commercial loans and commitments.
  • Confirm underwriting risk ratings are accurate and justified.
  • Analyze underwriting evaluations concerning cash flow, repayment sources, policy adherence, exception approvals, guarantor assessments, and collateral evaluations.
  • Adjust risk ratings as necessary based on findings from the reviews.
  • Ensure that booked loans align with approved terms and structures.
  • Verify that underwriters' actions are within their designated lending authority.
  • Ensure that loan documentation meets both bank and legal standards.
  • Assess the quality and substance of underwriter-prepared credit displays and approval documentation, providing guidance on improvements.
  • Compile and present detailed reports summarizing findings and identified risks.
  • Monitor and follow up on required corrective actions.
2. Credit Risk Monitoring - 20%:
  • Investigate and present post-analysis reports to the Credit Governance Committee regarding significant credit losses.
  • Conduct impairment analyses to support allowance estimations.
  • Report on credit risk metrics to aid the company's key risk indicator program.
3. Review of Small Business Loans - 15%:
  • Perform independent evaluations of small business lending practices, including the use of automated scoring systems.
  • Sample small business loan approvals to test compliance with written policies and defined scoring parameters.
  • Ensure that overrides receive the necessary approvals.
  • Review periodic scoring system reports to evaluate system usage and control.
  • Sample small business loan files to confirm proper documentation and closure.
4. Review of Consumer and Residential Loans - 15%:
  • Conduct independent evaluations of consumer and residential real estate lending practices, including automated scoring systems.
  • Sample direct and indirect consumer loan approvals to ensure compliance with written policies and applicable regulations.
  • Review scoring system reports to assess usage and control.
  • Sample approved and declined overrides to ensure proper approvals.
  • Sample loan files to confirm proper closure and documentation.
  • Sample residential real estate loan approvals to ensure compliance with bank policies.
Position Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three to five years of banking experience in commercial lending, regulatory examinations, or internal loan reviews.
  • Prior experience in commercial lending and/or loan review training is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of banking lending principles, policies, and practices.
  • Strong skills in analyzing consumer and commercial financial statements.
  • Familiarity with documentation standards for commercial, consumer, and residential real estate.
