This role is pivotal in supporting the Region Finance team as we develop and implement strategies for launching and expanding into new regions and special projects.

In this capacity, you will establish the groundwork for managing and enhancing the performance of our portfolio of commercial data center regions, ensuring that we have a viable and cost-effective path for expansion and scaling in the regions where we operate.


Key Responsibilities:
1) Take ownership of the proforma P&L for new regions that have yet to launch, 2) Identify opportunities and risks within financial data, and 3) Influence decision-making to achieve improved financial and customer outcomes.

Primary Duties:
Collaborate with the AWS Business Development team to offer strategic insights on investments, alternatives, and pricing for regional expansions.

Manage discounted cash flow and P&L financial modeling, often under tight deadlines, and lead discussions at the executive level. Ensure alignment among internal stakeholders (e.g., International Product Management, New Region Strategy Planning, Service Product teams, Accounting, Legal, Tax, etc.) with your recommendations.

Provide oversight and ensure the integrity of business case data and approvals.

Gain an understanding of infrastructure market segments, customer demographics, and industry verticals. Assist in formulating a business development plan for target markets, ensuring alignment with approved expansion strategies.

Develop business and technology knowledge to accurately reflect technology transitions and business evolution in financial models.

Identify and spearhead projects aimed at driving automation and process enhancements.

Effectively partner with leadership across product, sales, infrastructure, and public policy functions.

Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical discipline (e.g., engineering, mathematics, computer science), or a Bachelor's degree coupled with 5+ years of experience in a quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance).

Preferred Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, determining root causes, and creating/implementing escalation plans.

6+ years of experience in addressing complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analyses, and recommendations that have demonstrable impacts on business outcomes (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits).

MBA or CPA.

Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).

Experience in delivering forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and interpreting data results.

Knowledge of SQL/ETL.

6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.

6+ years of experience in creating financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making.

6+ years of experience in implementing process improvements through automation and analysis.

6+ years of involvement in continuous improvement projects within your team to enhance controllership with measurable results.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across various US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is influenced by several factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon offers a total compensation package that may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and other forms of compensation, in addition to a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
