Design/Product Engineer - Automotive Components
Qualified Staffing is seeking a talented and experienced Design/Product Engineer to join our client's team in Brighton. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and production of innovative automotive components, specifically heat exchangers and fluid routing systems.
Responsibilities:- Develop 3D CAD designs and 2D drawings for tube assemblies and heat exchangers using SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to design tooling and gauging fixtures.
- Participate in the design and development of new products, processes, and manufacturing methods for tubing and heat exchanger production.
- Manage and support the APQP process, ensuring timely completion of milestones and customer requirements.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure designed components meet customer specifications.
- Develop and implement design and test procedures, including DVP&R documentation.
- Test, evaluate, modify, and re-test products to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Design/Product Engineer in the automotive industry, specifically within a Tier 1 or 2 supplier environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and project management methodologies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the APQP process and GD&T.
- Experience with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with PPAP and Core Tools.
- Working knowledge of plastic injection molding equipment and design.
- Hands-on experience in a production shop environment.
- Knowledge of tube bending, metal forming, robotics, and welding.
- Experience with open atmospheric brazing/furnace brazing.
- Understanding of vehicle cooling systems and fluid routing components.
