Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Design/Product Engineer to join our team at Qualified Staffing. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing automotive components, working closely with our engineering manager to implement production processes and new product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Design tube assemblies for fluid routing systems, heat exchangers for various vehicle applications, and aid in the design or re-designing of tooling and gauging fixtures.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work with a team to develop and design new products, processes, and for tubing and heat exchanger production.
  • Project Management: Manage and support APQP process and timelines with customers and teams for new launches and engineering changes.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for all performance-related problems in the field as they relate to the manufacturing process.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct tolerance stack-up of designed components and confirm manufacturing tolerances to meet customer needs in vehicle assembly environments.
  • Testing and Evaluation: Produce and implement design and test procedures, test, evaluate, modify, and re-test products, and complete DVP&Rs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify possible actions for improvements and ensure their implementation.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Degree preferred but not required, at least 5 years of experience in a Tier 1 or 2 automotive supplier environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in SolidWorks and MS Office Suite, strong understanding of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and project management.
  • Additional Requirements: Strong understanding of the APQP process, experience with GD&T, Six Sigma training, and demonstrated practical application of lean methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working Knowledge: Working knowledge of plastic injection molding equipment and design, DVP&R experience, additional hands-on production shop experience.
  • Team Player: Must be extremely organized, exhibit a high degree of attention to detail, and be a team player who can work effectively in a team environment.
