GOVERNMENT SALES MANAGER (AVIATION)

SpaceX's Government Sales division is growing to enhance Starlink and Starshield functionalities on aviation systems.

This position will contribute to the formulation of sales strategies, pricing structures, and the acquisition of Starlink and Starshield sales for aviation systems in both domestic and international markets, catering to civil and defense requirements.

Applicants should possess a comprehensive understanding of the aviation sector and aim to pinpoint and prioritize opportunities for the integration of Starlink/Starshield capabilities across various platforms.

Beyond identifying viable opportunities, the ideal candidate will be skilled in developing thorough pricing and market analyses, employing quantitative modeling to secure competitively bid contracts.

This role will oversee the cost and pricing components of proposal development from inception to completion and will assess and establish key partnership opportunities with industry stakeholders where beneficial.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide actionable insights through data analysis and present findings succinctly to support senior management in strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain authoritative data sources to inform pricing, market size estimates, and more.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of complex customer aviation markets to uncover trends, insights, and opportunities for SpaceX to pursue.
  • Create and quantitatively validate pricing models for SpaceX products.
  • Assist in the development of intricate proposals, including pricing, strategy, and win themes.
  • Take ownership of the cost and pricing sections for competitive bids.
  • Collaborate actively with engineering, customer operations, finance, and other internal teams to drive sales performance and efficiency.
  • Balance the diverse demands of multiple stakeholders in a dynamic work environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in data-driven decision-making, strategy formulation, data analysis, and/or forecasting.
  • 2+ years of experience in business development, U.S. Government procurement, and/or finance.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • Master's degree in a technical field or an MBA.
  • Direct experience with government aviation markets and/or aviation communication systems.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, preferably in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to assess market trends that indicate business opportunities several years ahead.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience as a management consultant at a top-tier consulting firm.
  • Familiarity with both commercial and government space launch and satellite markets.
  • Understanding of the DoD acquisition process.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required (~20-40%).
  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance preferred, or the ability to obtain one. Note that an active clearance may allow you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions, subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Government Sales Manager:
$110,000 - $150,000.00 per year


Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX.

You may also qualify for long-term incentives, such as company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the opportunity to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

Additionally, you will have access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.

You will also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays each year.

Exempt employees are entitled to 5 days of sick leave annually.
